In Mfuwe, Zambia, the Valley Queens Girls Soccer Club is changing what’s possible for girls. Founded in 2018 to keep girls off the streets and in school, the team has quickly become a local powerhouse—winning their division again this season, and now preparing to compete for a chance to return to the national tournament in Lusaka for the second year in a row.
But while they’ve grown stronger on the field, several challenges continue to hold them back: transportation, school fees, and trade skills.
It’s more than a gift—it’s an investment in safety, education, and lasting opportunity for girls who are already defying the odds.
In previous seasons, the team had no access to safe, reliable vehicles. Eighteen girls crammed into the back of a pickup truck just to make it to away games. It wasn’t just uncomfortable—it was dangerous.
This year (2024/2025), All Our Stories stepped in, covering the high cost of renting a bus for game days. But that cost added up quickly—nearly $3,500 USD for just one season—and there are still only two buses in all of Mfuwe to serve seven teams.
We’ve already secured $5,000. Now we’re raising the final $20,000 to buy a team bus for the Valley Queens before the 2025/2026 season begins.
The bus will be used to transport the team to and from matches—ensuring they can show up safely, together, and with pride.
And thanks to a partnership already in place, the bus will operate as a local charter vehicle during the week, covering all its own:
✅ Maintenance
✅ Fuel and insurance
✅ Ongoing operating costs
This is not just a one-time solution—it’s a self-sustaining investment in safety, dignity, and equity.
One-time gifts:
$100 gets us one seat closer to a fully owned team bus
$500 helps replace a season of dangerous rides with safe transport
$1,000+ builds a legacy of opportunity for girls across Mfuwe
Prefer to give monthly? So do we.
If monthly giving is a better fit for you, it’s a better fit for us too. A steady stream of smaller gifts adds up quickly—and helps us plan with confidence.
$10/month helps close the gap with consistency
$25/month keeps the momentum going toward our goal
$50/month brings the bus closer with every passing month
Whether you give once or give monthly, you’re helping make this dream real.
Your support means these girls don’t just play—they belong. On the field. At school. In their community.
Let’s get the Valley Queens rolling into a new season—on their own terms.
In an effort to make the club more self-sustaining, we asked the girls what kind of training could help them earn income and build independence. Their answer? Salon skills—training in make-up, nails, and hair care. And in a tourism town like Mfuwe, the opportunity is real.
With one phone call, we found a local organization ready to deliver professional training—and now, we’re ready to make it happen.
Right now, 16 of these girls are still in primary or secondary school. The other 12 have completed secondary school, and many are exploring next steps in work or further education.
We want to continue supporting all of them—on the field, and in life.
School tuition in Zambia is free, but success still depends on being able to afford the required supplies. Each girl needs:
Shoes, calculator, math set, uniform, school bag, books, pens, pencils, sanitary pads, shoe polish, and socks.
✅ Cost for all 16 girls for one school year: $1,200
→ That’s $75 per girl for the year
→ Or just $7/month
We also want to invest in:
📘 $750 for special tutoring to prepare girls for national exams—the gateway to university
Next season, we want every player—whether they’re in school or not—to take the field with confidence. No more borrowing equipment.
👟 $2,000 will buy new soccer uniforms and cleats for all 28 girls
That’s about $75 per girl.
Here’s what your gift can do:
💡 $75 sponsors one girl’s school year
💡 $200 provides a full year of support—school needs, tutoring, uniform, and cleats
💡 $1,000 supports five girls for the full year
These young women are determined to create a brighter future. With just a little support, they can go further than any of us imagined.
